JELD-WEN's Research and Development Laboratory team of professional, experienced all scientists with engineering, chemistry and material science backgrounds conduct tests to meet standards set by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), American Architectural Manufacturing Association (AAMA), Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and other domestic and international agencies.
Comprehensive Testing: Performance testing, product certifications, accelerated weathering, impact, corrosion and strength testing
Research: All testing is completed according to ISO 17025 requirements
Analysis of Materials and Products: Rigorous testing, development and code approvals for materials and products of many different types including: doors, door skins, windows, glass, sealants, glazing compounds, adhesives, tapes, metals, thermoplastics, coatings, composites, fasteners, various wood products and fiberglass
Material Evaluation: Evaluation of nearly every type of material and component used in construction for factors such as moisture resistance, long-term weathering, strength, adhesion, hardness, and color matching
Field Testing: Evaluation of structural performance of fenestration products in installed location, complete forensic testing of products that have not performed satisfactorily to determine cause of failure
Process Optimization: Evaluation of manufacturing procedures to optimize each step of the process, direct applications for manufacture of fiberboard, composite, extrusions and coatings, or product assembly of windows and doors
Product Development: Prototyping and production of full-size products with recommendations on performance and manufacturing costs |
